Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian Reverse Osmosis Review

Reverse Osmosis process works wonders to remove up to 99 percent of chemicals, heavy metals, sediment, pharmaceuticals, and other contaminants.

And today in this review we’re taking a better look at The Home Master TMAFC-ERP system. It is made by Perfect Water Technologies, a household brand name, that has been in business since 2002.

What puts this RO system above others is that you’re getting patented Full Contact® Artesian Remineralization technology and a permeate pump. But more about these benefits later.

Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian Reverse System

The Home Master TMAFC-ERP, straight out of the box unit includes the following:

  • RO membrane and filters
  • Storage tank 3.2-gallon capacity
  • 3/8-inch feed-water adapter with shut off valve
  • Chrome RO faucet
  • RO adapter
  • Drain saddle
  • Printed instructions
  • All necessary fittings and tubing

Anyone with basic DIY skills and minimal equipment can install it. Also, the maintenance is really simple compared to other RO systems, because the Home Master TMAFC-ERP system has a modular filter design that makes changing filters quick and easy.

PROs

Better taste included

Water that goes through a reverse osmosis purification process ends up demineralized resulting in a pure, but slightly acidic taste. That’s why it’s a good idea to remineralize the RO water before you drink it and I have a full article on how you can do so.

However, the Home Master TMAFC-ERP takes care of this process with a patented ‘Full Contact’ remineralization system.

This is exclusive because the water is remineralized in two stages:

1. First before entering the storage tank where it might be sitting for some time, thus reacting with the inner rubber bladder of the tank.

2. And afterward, just before coming out of the RO tap.

After both remineralization points, about 30-60 mg calcium and magnesium minerals are dissolved to the water through a natural process. This moves the pH balance towards slight alkalinity, making the water taste so much better while drinking, brewing coffee, and cooking.

Not to mention the added health benefits.

Permeate pump increased efficiency

The Home Master TMAFC-ERP is easily among the most efficient systems that you can find. It has a 1:1 ratio, which means it creates only about one gallon of wastewater for every gallon of drinkable water.

The waste is a natural feature of any RO system because some pre-filtered water is always used to clean up the filter membranes.

The 1:1 ratio is achieved thanks to the included permeate pump that works its magic twice.

  • First by reducing waste.
  • Second, by increasing the flow rate of the pure water coming out through the tap.

Pro tip

The amount of wastewater depends greatly on the pressure of the water entering the system. The higher it is, the less water will be wasted.

CONs

The price could be better

This system is more expensive than other basic systems of this kind. It does not include a UV light attachment that destroys waterborne bacteria and other microorganisms.

So it’s not ideal for people with the water coming from private wells or living in areas where municipal water is suspect to biological contamination and the quality of groundwater is uncertain.

Not as green as other systems

If you’re trying to reduce your environmental load, this system might not satisfy you. The filters need to be changed together with the plastic casings, producing more plastic waste than changing just the filter on its own. Also, I have a special article about how to wash your RO system, possibly making it last longer and work better.

Tips for better installation

  • Keep in mind that you need to hang this system as the filter unit is not free-standing.
  • Make sure that you have a space to hang it as the dimensions of the filter unit are 8″w x 5″d x 16″h.
  • Storage tank is 3.2 gallons, but you can tilt the tank sideways if that makes it fit better.
  • Don’t forget that the permeate pump has to be placed sideways and most probably should be put under the filter unit itself.
  • Do get some Teflon tape and wrap a few twists around the threads.

The instructional videos that the manufacturer has provided are there to guide you. Although printed instructions that luckily come included are much more clear.

Tools that you will need:

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Scissors or a knife
  • Teflon tape
  • Variable speed power drill
  • ½” and ¼” metal drill bit

My verdict | Home Master TMAFC-ERP Artesian Reverse Osmosis

It is a popular and highly-rated system because of these benefits:

  • Includes the permeate pump
  • Remineralizes the water twice
  • Wastes very little water
  • Is easy to maintain
  • Comes with a five-year warranty

I give it 5 out of 5 because it’s ideal for people living in cities where the price of the water is higher than what you would pay for a private water source. Also since you don’t own a private well, there should be no need for UV disinfection.

I hope you found this review useful and you will soon find the perfect RO system for you.
