Home Master TMHP Hydro Perfection RO System Review

The Perfect Water Technologies company is quite invested in the field of water purification and is based on good values. The company has been operating since 2002 and has patented Full Contact® Artesian Remineralization technology which is a good sign for us, end-users.

That’s why we’re taking a look at one of their under-sink RO systems today. It might be easy to get lost among the many Home Master systems, so keep in mind that in the review it’s TMHP Hydro Perfection Reverse Osmosis model that we’re talking about.

So it’s a RO system and I’ve already covered how such technology works and why you should want to consider RO as your main way to purify drinking water. To put it simply, RO is a very fine membrane that filters waters. But the Home Master system offers you much more than that.

Five stages of filtration and purification happen in the following order:

  • Modular Sediment Filter – to catch the most basic sediment
  • Iron Filter With catalytic carbon – to remove bad taste and smell
  • UV filter – to get rid of bacteria
  • Reverse Osmosis Membrane – to drop TSD level
  • Re-mineralization filter – to make the water taste great

The whole process removes 99 percent of chemicals, heavy metals, sediment, pharmaceuticals, and other contaminants. The whole Home Master system basically consists of a joint filter block, water storage tank, and tubing.

It’s made so anyone with basic DIY skills and minimal equipment can install it themselves. Also, the needed maintenance is really simple compared to the other RO systems, but more on that later.

PROs

What stands out immediately is that The Home Master TMHP HydroPerfection is one of the most efficient systems you can find as it creates only about 1 gallon of wastewater for every gallon of pure water produced (1:1 ratio). Almost no other RO system can claim to be this efficient as the ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 is considered normal.

The permeate pump included with this system increases the water pressure and helps to reduce the mentioned water waste. Also, the overall efficiency of the system is quite surprising.

Home Master TMHP HydroPerfection excels with high water flow rate, coming from the tap. The water flows at a double rate that the average RO system without a permeate pump.

It’s actually a great choice for water sources that come from private wells as these tend to have a higher TDS and much more bacteria than municipal water sources.

UV Light Chamber is among the most effective ways to destroy up to 99% of the waterborne microorganisms and parasites with ultraviolet light. Meaning there’s no need for chemicals like chlorine.

If you get one, you skip a need to add back minerals to the water for a good taste. The patented Full Contact technology adds calcium and magnesium minerals twice during the purification process.

Filters are easy to swap because you don’t need to disassemble the casing unit by unscrewing it and breaking the seal. Instead, the whole filter comes out with a case. So to swap it you need only to unplug the tubing and replace the case.

And you don’t even need to do that too often as Home Master systems have quite a long-lasting filtration period. You’ll be set for around 3000 gallons or a year worth of usage.

CONs

It’s good, but it’s not perfect.

This system needs to be mounted on the inner wall of the cabinet or somewhere else so there’s no option to leave it freestanding. This might be an issue with some kitchen setups. Especially with narrow cupboards.

The system is designed to be installed on your own, without much plumbing know-how. Basically, it always means that a fine balance between simplicity and sturdiness must be kept. For example, you would expect to find some better way of mounting and organizing the tubing.

Also, the system does not have an emergency leak stopper so you need to pay close attention to it for a few days after the first installation and filter change.

Tips for easier installation

The video instructions that the distributor provided are fine but a bit unclear and at times hard to follow. Do take a look at them but also read the printed instructions. These are easier to follow and more detailed, so review them often. Also keep in mind that for this system to work an electrical outlet is needed, to plug in the UV lamp.

Tools that you will need:

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Scissors or a knife
  • Medium Crescent wrench
  • Pliers
  • Teflon tape
  • Variable speed power drill
  • ½” and ¼” metal drill bit

Also, make sure that you have a space to hang it as the dimensions of the filter unit are 8″w x 5″d x 16″h. And a space to stand the Storage Tank with a capacity of 3.2 gallons.

My verdict

I give this system 5 out of 5 stars. Despite its lack and some light struggle with installation, by far, it’s among the top-performing RO systems for its price.

Patented technology and long filters lifespan, together with a limited 5-year warranty and 30-day return option are not so common among other Reverse Osmosis water purification systems. That makes it a good investment.
